Rick's Revenge

Rick’s Revenge is a steelhead fly developed by John Shewey and Rick Wren in 1986. The pattern is normally cast across and downstream and fished on a controlled swing through runs, pools, and tailouts. Its combination of fluorescent pink, purple, white, and blue makes it an effective attractor, while its traditional hairwing construction maintains a relatively slim profile in the current. Rick’s Revenge is commonly tied on salmon hooks in sizes 2 through 8, although tube and low-water versions are also popular. Keeping the floss body smooth, the dubbing compact, and the layered wing sparse and properly aligned are the main considerations when tying the pattern.
